After attending the 2nd Annual Hearts & Horses Gala event in Apr 2023, I’ve become a Weekend Volunteer feeding and caring for the horses and fill-in on other days “as needed”. I also enjoy participating in the monthly Sensory Saturday mornings, clean-up days and other minor jobs that just need to get done.
I proudly served twenty years of active duty with the US Air Force as an Airborne Command & Control Superintendent. The highlight of my career was serving on board the E4-B Airborne Command Post with President Regan and President George H.W. Bush as an Emergency Action and Special Weapons Briefer to the President. I served several overseas tours throughout Asia and Europe as well as several state-side bases.
After retirement from the AF, I was employed as an accountant with a large Hampton Roads firm. After a couple of years, I opened my own business to work with and train Therapy Dogs. I’m active with the Master’s Swim Team and enjoy caring for my 2 chocolate Labs.
I’m married to a 28-year US Air Force veteran who served as an Airborne Command Controller on board B-52 and EC-135 aircraft. We have one daughter (married); she received her MS degree from Radford University and is presently a Virginia Tech Faculty Member serving as a Licensed, Embedded Mental Health Counselor with the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets.
